During a visit to Israel the mayor of Erfurt Andreas Bausewein presented a special gift to the Mayor of Haifa, Dr. Einat Kalish Rotem. A replica of the Jewish wedding ring was given to the Israeli sister city and is to be exhibited in a museum there. By putting the ring on the finger, the two mayors would now be married according to Jewish law, but the ceremony was finally not completed.
